Creating Categories
Step 1: Access the Admin Panel
- Log in to your TypeMenu dashboard
- Navigate to Products > Categories
Step 2: Add a New Category
- Click “Add Category”
- Enter the category name (e.g., “Appetizers”, “Main Courses”)
- Add an optional description
- Upload a category image (recommended for visual appeal)
- Set the display order
- Choose visibility settings
Step 3: Configure Display Options
- Display Order: Controls the order categories appear in your menu
- Visibility: Show/hide categories on different platforms
- Featured: Mark categories as featured for homepage display
Best Practices
Category Naming
- Use clear, descriptive names
- Keep names consistent (e.g., “Beverages” vs “Drinks”)
- Avoid abbreviations that customers won’t understand
Organization Tips
- Group similar items together
- Consider customer flow (appetizers first, desserts last)
- Limit to 8-12 categories for optimal navigation

Deleting Categories
Warning: Deleting a category will unassign all products in that category.
- Click the delete icon next to the category
- Confirm the deletion
- Reassign products to other categories
